Ladies, despite this ridiculous winter we have had to endure the past few months the blaring reality is summer is approaching and with that comes bathing suit season. Now is the time to start getting our bodies moving in anticipation for the warmer months...woo hoo!

 

"But Jeanene, i am soooo busy with the kids and work and my partner, there is no way i have time to think about the gym much less actually physically exert myself in any way. Plus, i really just don't like it. Also, i don't want to."

 

We all know the obvious benefits of exercise, right? Lose weight, fit into your skinny jeans, prepare for your wedding or upcoming high school reunion etc. But there are sooooo many more important emotional and psychological benefits to exercise that will impact you as a mother, wife, friend and well, as a human being.

 

 

LET'S LOOK AT A FEW...

 

 

1. A 2010 study at the University of California- San Francisco found that it greatly reduces the detrimental effects of stress "by altering blood flow to those areas in the brain involved in triggering us to relive these stressful thoughts again and again," says Elissa Epel, an associate professor of psychiatry at UCSF.

 

2. It builds Self-Esteem and Body Image... which will also help you feel more confident and fabulous in your clothes.

 

3. It helps with learning and keeping the brain fit which is just one more reason to start getting your kids in the habit of staying active. If you start them young it will turn into a lifestyle that will have endless benefits.

 

4. It leaves you feeling Euphoric! (Yes, the "runners high" really does exist). Let's not forget the wise words of Elle Woods, "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't."

 

 

 

 

Bottom line, if a single mother of two, running her own business can squeeze in the time to make her body sweat than SO CAN YOU! I was talking about me there.. :)

 

Choose what makes you the most excited and comfortable. For me, i find some peace in spinning. For you, it might be yoga or running, work out videos at home or maybe your into weights. Whatever it is, remember this is for you...stay healthy and happy!
