FOR THE KIDS:
I am a mother of 2 amazing little girls. It is by far my greatest achievement. Before i was a mother "people" would always say that i wouldn't truly know how deep i could love till i had kids. Well, they were right. I never imagined the depths of my heart until i looked into their little faces for the first time. However, it has also made me really think about the real meaning of love and what drives us to instinctually want to protect and provide for these little beings.
You see, i was adopted when i was 5 and i never really thought about what that really meant for my adoptive parents until i myself became a mom. I would be lying if i hadn't wondered over the years if they could really love me like their biological kids. I mean, i'm not really theirs, right? My mother and i have often talked about how there should be more children's literature out there that talks about adoption...well, let me introduce you to Born From The Heart by Berta Serrano. It is exactly what every child needs to hear. It's perfect. Read it to your adoptive child/children, to your biological kids, to your spouse. It's about #LOVE and how we all come from it.
1. EMILY BRONTE'S CLASSIC NOVEL ON HOW "LOVE LOST CAN TURN A GOOD MAN EVIL" IS THE PERFECT READ ON A CHILLY NIGHT IN WITH YOUR PARTNER.
* The 1983 Bonnie Tyler power ballad "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was inspired by Wuthering Heights.
2. 12 DOZEN ROSES FOR THE HOME.
* The number twelve is often used to represent a complete cycle, such as the 12 months of the year, the 12 hours in a day or the 12 signs of the zodiac. The recurrence of the number twelve across the natural and spiritual world has given it a sacred and mystical quality which is universal.
3. FOR HIM
Things that are good for the skin usually smell of roses and fresh fruit — not exactly the manliest way to smell. Chief’s Energizing Man Soap is a soap made for men in mind, but is also a manly soap infused with natural essential oils, moisturizing eucalyptus, oatmeal for added grime-fighting and texture, and all of it leaves behind a woodsy scent. A gift he’ll thank you for, and you’ll benefit from.
